The light source are three dim LED lights and the dual monitors of the computer – check out Nate’s right eye. In Lightroom, all I did was place the white balance eye dropper on the cat’s nose and that’s it.The Panasonic GH2 is doing well here. ISO1600 is holding up well. It’s been an interesting experience to say the least, and has started me thinking about the future of mirrorless cameras. Can they eventually usurp the dSLR? Watch this space. It gives me hope to read everyone’s well-wishes on Facebook, it’s like we as a species are prone to bouts of optimism, to wish and hope for better tomorrows, no matter what yesterday brought. Maybe that’s what keeps us alive, keeps us moving forward in spite of all the obstacles. Maybe the human spirit is indomitable after all…

Was ready to head out the door with the Pentax K20d and a fistful of primes, the Canon G10 as backup, and the Olympus XA to play with. At the last minute I decided to leave the Pentax behind. We are carried unwillingly towards the perigee of days when we wake in the dark, work under an artificial sun, and then return home in darkness. Fear not though, that too shall pass, and once again we shall bask in the endless light of the summer solstice.

1997 PAGES Medical Mission – more waiting, originally uploaded by john m flores. Do the math – 120-130 operations in a week is about 17-18 operations a day. For each patient there are 2 or more family members, resulting in a lot of people waiting for their turn. For those lucky enough to go first, their ordeal is short. For those luck enough to live nearby, they can go home until their surgery is scheduled. But for those that have traveled a good distance with limited funds, they have no choice but to stay.
