I remember reading about Bike Fridays in bicycle magazines in the 90s. In 2023, I found a used one for sale locally at about a third of the price of a new one, so I gave it a try. It was a revelation; very different than my other folding bike, a Zizzo Liberte. If you didn’t look down and just rode, the Pocket Rocket felt like a 90s/early 00s era steel road bike. 2×9 drivetrain, rim brakes, and a bunch of cables exiting the brifters.
And I rode it like one – local Spring and Summer road rides where I found my fitness again, and on the Wahoo training in the winter to stave off old age. Mileagewise, I rode it more than any other bike. I had no plans to sell it but I’ve got too many bikes. And a random online conversation led to goodbye. It was and is a great bike, and I wish many happy miles with the new owner.
