20 years ago, I started a second career as a motorcycle journalist, and I’ve been lucky enough to see many of the beautiful places in the world and publishing stories and photos of my adventures. I’ve started documenting my bicycle adventures in a similar fashion, and will be sharing those stories here. Please join me.

Up!, originally uploaded by john m flores. I {heart} the 20mm F1.7. It continues to impress optically, and the pancake form factor is just icing on the cake. I’m also interested in the upcoming 25mm F1.4 with its promise of magic Leica pixie dust, but even if I buy it I’ll be hard-pressed to let…

Congrats Celeste and James!, originally uploaded by john m flores. Confession – I cheated here. In the heat of the moment, I set the GH2 to full auto (iA) and snapped away. Credit to the Panasonic for recognizing the moment (portrait) and setting the aperture for thinner DOF. Once again, the Panny 20 F1.7 performs…

Pigs are flying. Now what?, originally uploaded by john m flores. I’m back from a motorcycle tour of Kansas. I was in search of barbecue and I found some. It was also my first motorcycle story assignment with Panasonic, instead of Pentax, and Nikon and Ricoh before that. I carried the GH1 and GH2 along…

Flash Cat, originally uploaded by john m flores. Via Flickr:So, Nate, if you don’t mind, I’m going to take some flash photos of you while you snooze, and share my impressions of the Metz 50 AF-1. I have a Metz 58 AF-1 for Pentax and have been very happy with it. It is my first…

Safe Passage, originally uploaded by john m flores. Via Flickr:Cue the nursery rhyme where the daddy’s singing to his little girl. Cue the montage – learning how to ride a bike, first boo-boo, driving friends to pop concert, meeting first boyfriend, learning how to drive, dropping off at college. Cue the big day, walking down…

Hello. Kitty., originally uploaded by john m flores. Via Flickr:Nate’s looking at me thinking, "Is that the GH1 that you just bought?" Why yes, Nate, it is. I’m still working to get the hang of it. 90% of it is practically identical to the GH2, but it’s that 10% that needs some sussing out. It’s…

Michel talks corn, originally uploaded by john m flores. Here, in a nutshell, is why I really like the Panasonic 20mm F1.7. At the kinds of working distances you encounter in social situations, the lens creates this nice 3d effect. Here, the lens is stopped down a tad to F2.0. I wish that I could…
