Upgrading the Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer Gravel Bike. Is it worth it?

I succumbed to temptation over the winter and stripped down my Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer gravel bike. After a lot of cardboard boxes and late nights in the basement, I emerged in the Spring with a “G.2” Explorer. And then Walmart released an official G.2 Rebel. Was my winter in vain?

Notes: I am an old, Gen X roadie (as if you didn’t notice) with some mountain biking experience too, so that’s my frame of reference. The older I get, the faster I was LOL.
