My friend Sandy and I used to take some neat #motorcycle trips for RoadRUNNER Motorcycle, Touring, and Travel magazine – up to Maine for lobster, Kentucky for donuts, all around New England. He’s a good rider and good photographer too, so we got some good photos of each other. He had a rapid Honda VFR to start, dabbled in a Honda CBR600F4i, a bonkers CBR954 Fireblade and finally a rapid blue FJR that he rode the piss out of before recognizing that his reflexes were diminishing. He did the responsible thing and put the bikes away several years ago.
We get together for breakfast every now and again, and when I show up on a motorcycle, there’s a glint in his eye. He misses riding.

Imagine his delight then when one of his grandkids expressed an interest in motorcycles. A couple of messages was all it took to arrange a short pillion ride on some quiet backroads to introduce Sandy’s grandkid to motorcycling. I brought #Yamaha #FZ09 with the topcase. Started nice and easy on the short loop, but afterwards included some sweeping curves along with some opportunities to let the triple motor sing a bit. Sandy’s grandkid was hooked and the world may be soon be one motorcyclist richer.
